How to easily pump dense and viscous fluids.

Peristaltic pumps for very viscous fluids

viscous and dense fluids peristaltic pump100,000 cps, up to this value can reach viscosity of fluids that our customer, operating in the food sector, must transfer seasonally from reactor to containers prepared for the following Machining. The operation was carried out by flexible impeller pumps with very disappointing results and very high operating costs. The transfer of normal or viscous  products, obviously ,did not generate problems, but as the viscosity raise, difficulty, inefficiencies, and high management costs grew fast. The company reached a level that was no longer sustainable. The increasing viscosity of products generated great discontinuity  of suction flow to the pumps, often causing  destruction of the rubber impellers and mechanical seals of all the pumps available. Viscous and dense fluids = problems.

This is the fact, without any consideration for the long process  pumping times, combined with cleaning, restoring and continuous maintenance time spent for the various pumps involved . The  company technical manager finally decide to  seek a rational solution to solve the issue, he exposed the problem to several pump producers, proposing them a sample of the most difficult viscous product to verify the transferability. No one proposed a solution, 100000 cps are a limit for almost everyone. We made our own tests with our peristaltic pumps. After that we have realized that we could definitely eliminate the high viscosity transfering problems of this company.

The right solution for very viscous and dense fluids.

Now, a peristaltic HCP 50 pump equipped with special accessories has replaced the previous pumps in the suction and transfer operations. Our peristaltic pump is equipped with additional vacuum system and Inverter panel for the management of the speed variation. The possibility to change the speed allows the adaptation of the pumping capacity to the characteristics of most of the less problematic fluids. With the few high viscosity fluids, increased vacuum system allows to obtain the suction efficiency required, needed to work with high viscous products (up to 100000 cps).

The pump capability of realizing a vacuum up to 95% and the ability to keep it stable even with different speeds allows the HCP 50 peristaltic pump to satisfy the customer’s requirements for high viscosity fluids. Low operating cost and effectiveness in operation have consolidated the trust of our customer to our peristaltic pumps. We can expect the introduction of some other machine in future

Peristaltic pump for honey

How to pump food type dense  and viscous fluids.

peristaltic pump for honey and food grade fluidsIn this company is produced honey in an amount quite significant. The manufacturing process provides  several steps. Only one is of our interest step, suction and the transfer of honey in order to obtain a product having the qualities required by demanding market. Some typical characteristics of honey complicate things, and make pumping operations  particularly challenghing.

The first in order of importance is the viscosity, honey, even if subjected to a thermal conditioning process necessary for processing, remains a fluid relatively hard to pump. This peculiarity is the greatest difficulties to be overcome if you plan to transfer it by a pump.
The second characteristic of great importance is that honey is a delicate fluid. Due to its delicacy, honey requires appropriate treatment processes and typically “slow”, shaking, centrifugation or mixing at high speed are excluded, penalty the emulsion of the product, which is condition to be carefully avoided.

In the company for the operations of suction and transfer of honey were carried out by a self-priming flexible impeller pumps, which performed their jobs, but always with some complications.

Among the main problems that emerged, there was the poor capacity of prime due to lower the maximum number of revolutions to allow the pump to operate with viscous  and delicate fluids like honey, the absolute necessity to prevent or inhibit the dry run operation to prevent damage to the impeller. The relatively frequent consumption the impeller certainly due to application too to the limit for that pump  type.

Once we have been focused on the customer needs, we proposed a peristaltic pump HCP 25 equipped with mechanical speed variator and reinforced food grade hose.

Practical solution for honey pumping.

With the introduction of the new peristaltic pump in the production line , the problems encountered in the past have disappeared. The pump sucks and transfers easily honey of various origins and viscosity, low rotation speed , anyway adaptable (with the variator) avoids the formation of emulsions. The possible dry run operation is no longer a problem that require attention, the advantage of a better productivity is granted. The cleaning operations are simplified by the fact that it is no longer necessary to remove the pump or partially dismantle it as previously was in the past, the peristaltic pump HCP 25 has no mechanical parts in contact with fluid making impossible the contamination of the pumped product. The long duration of the tubular membrane has not requested so far no replacement.

Suction floating sludge and supernatants from coolants.

supernatants and floating sludge pumpRemove supernatants and floating sludge.

Purpose of application, floating sludge and supernatant suction. A company specialized in the manufacturing of stainless steel makes use during the working processes of cooling lubricant that is collected in an underground tank. The cooling lubricant is constantly subjected to cleaning cycles and regeneration in order to eliminate the contaminants collected during use in the manufacturing processes. The perfect cleaning of the cooling lubricant is necessary in order to obtain levels of surface finishing of metal products according to the standards demanded by the manufacturer. In many cases, the metal surfaces are finished with mirror polishing.
One of the various problems linked to the treatment of lubrofrigerante is the elimination of the supernatant and floating sludge or any agglomerated formations that form and stationed on the free surface in the tanks, the semisolid consistency of these formations puts in crisis the treatment plant of the cooling lubricant clogs pumps and valve systems.
It is advisable to remove the formations supernatants possibly in the moment of maximum consistency and directly from the surface of the liquid in order to be able to eliminate the most contaminated.
For this purpose have been arranged a Pump Hose Carrier HCP 2.5 equipped with a special filter Skimmer equipped with an overflow of collection able to float on the surface of the fluid.
During the cleaning step, the spillway is located a few millimeters below the free surface and collects in its interior the supernatants and the floating sludges substances that precipitate due to gravity, the action of the pump removes these substances evacuandole externally in a bag filter.
The Pump Hose Carrier is a machine perfectly suited to this purpose just for its remarkable suction capacity and the possibility of operating with solid substances of considerable size. No one of different kind of pumps previous used have enabled that company to achieve the efficiency of the Pump Hose Carrier. Since four years that the HCP pump 2.5 performs this service, and it has not requested any maintenance intervention , the tubular membrane is still that of first installation. We do not think it is necessary to add other things.

Pumps Hose Carrier for oil and dissolved fat of bakery

Suction of dissolved fat and oils.

pumps dissolved fat oilsThis application is rather singular, pumping dissolved fat and oils. A food company specialized in bakery on industrial scale, has the need to collect the fluids arising from operations of cooking of foods made of meat. The fluid that is generated is largely composed of animal dissolved fat and oils, solid formations deriving from the cooking process. The fluid is collected in trays rather wide but of a few centimeters in height. The amount of fluid that collects for each process is relatively low but still in the order of 1500-2000 liters for “baked”.

The difficulty of process consists in the aspiration of fluid mass with relative solid suspension, whereas having to do that at an optimal temperature pointed to maintain fluidity status. The operation must be carried out quickly and occurs by inserting the pump intake pipe equipped with a suitable terminal designed to drain the maximum possible in various points of  collection tank. The fluid is then accumulated in tanks and repositioned for energy purposes. The company attended to perform the recovery and transfer operation  manually using containers self-purpose built, but obviously in a very long time.

In a first time was used a peristaltic pump HCP 25 to perform the operation of the suction of the oil and grease dissolved. Verified the validity of the solution applied, the company has subsequently purchased a new peristaltic pump of greater dimension in such a way to be able to solve the problem of the recovery of substances arising from seasonal peaks of production, a peristaltic pump HCP 40 is added to the previous HCP 25 already in use.

The company now has a couple of machines perfectly sized for the productive needs, ordinary and extraordinary, and resolved quickly and clean the problem of oils and fats dissolved suction, with heterogeneous suspensions resulting from rotisserie processes.
